embracing the ugly urbanism x scent walk
Have you ever considered how your sense of place changes depending on your mode of transportation? City design limits what you have access to, curating what you are able to see, smell, hear, and touch throughout your everyday commute.
The invitation:
Please join Carley and Arianna (of Zapah Lab) in their (free) walk to investigate the sensory experience of a high-traffic highway - on foot. This walk will take you above and around a GA state highway through tunnels, overgrown landscapes, abandoned bridges, and train tracks.
On the walk, participants will explore scentscapes, engage with the highway as a pedestrian, and record observations dealing with perception, landscape, design, and the unknown.
GPS coordinates will be sent to participants via email the week prior to the event. Please dress to be outside and wear shoes for walking on rocky and grassy terrain.
The walk will take place on Saturday, November 2nd from 3pm - 5pm. Attendees are invited to gather after the walk for a discussion on what we find.
