The Alternative Public Space Book Release and Exhibition was May 2nd at the Warhorse Cafe, located within the Goat Farm Arts Center (Atlanta, Georgia). Books were displayed on cardboard stands held in place with rubber-bands. The space and methods used for display were intentionally chosen. Alternative public spaces are typically DIY efforts and carry an ideology and/or aesthetic outside conventional “design” expectations; one more reflective of resourceful and everyday culture.

Carley led an artist talk which evolved into a conversation with the audience. She asked attendees to “please ask questions, because, well, there is nothing else to ask.” This comment broke the power dynamic between event leader and the attending general public with humble laughter. The viewers comfortably responded with questions, ideas, and commentary. Among the attendees were artists, designers, planners, writers, architects, musicians, scholars, and young (and old) professionals.
