residual x movement love
an exhibition, engagement, and performative collaboration with maggie benoit/movement love at the atlanta contemporary in february 2020.
between maggie benoit’s group movement practice rickles led participants through a maze in the exhibition space out into the gallery for group movement. participants lined up behind her and mimicked her movements. rickles dramatically approached and tampered with architectural and programmatic lines, such as concrete joints, gallery thresholds, stair cases, and the psychological barriers that divide exhibited work from the public.
imagery, materials, performance and engagements were inspired by the residual spaces and the embracing ugly urbanism projects within the context of the movement love platform.
